PrideCare is happy to announce that we have started a cooperation with Neil Henderson, that has extensive experience both academically and as a social worker, with the needs and challenges of aging lgbtq people.

Neil will help us with training and guidance as well as being a part of our team, offering certain care services here at PrideCare.

NEIL HENDERSON BIOGRAPHY

 

Dr. Neil Henderson has been a social work lecturer and researcher at the University of the Western Cape in South Africa for 20 years.
His PhD was on narratives of gay identity and gay relationships in the Cape Metropole.

He was awarded a fellowship at the Sue Ryder Centre at Nottingham University in the United Kingdom in 2015 to explore ageingof LGBT people. This led to him becoming the primary investigator on a three-year project (2017-2019) funded by the National Research Foundation on LGBT ageing and care in two provinces in South Africa.

He has subsequently published numerous articles on the topic and presented conference papers in England, Portugal, Switzerland and South Africa.

He moved to England in August, 2023 to get involved in projects on LGBT care. His role in PrideCare is that of a consultant as well as contributing to caring of LGBT people. His research has given him a key understanding of what is required to care for the LGBT older community.
